Metrotown is an upcoming city builder for the urban enthusiast. It offers a realistic city building experience shaped by the real-world knowledge of professional city planners. By incorporating new urbanism and Georgist land-value economics, Metrotown gives the player the tools to build livable and equitable cities.
Most city builders heavily abstract how cities function to cater to a casual audience. By contrast, Metrotown implements every significant detail as it exists in the real world — from the negative externalities of cars to the cost of planting street trees. This makes the cities in Metrotown feel like real places with permanence and history.
Metrotown will be available on PC via Steam. A macOS port is something I’m looking into but cannot guarantee at this time.
Modding is a vital part of the city-builder community. While my immediate focus is on getting the game finished, this is something I hope to add and will look into more as the game is further along in development.
Metrotown is a solo project. Because of this, I have to prioritize features that deliver the most significant impact to the core gameplay experience. I appreciate the community's patience and understanding if I can't implement requested features while the game is still early in development.
